If I could give negative stars to this place I would. Worst adoption center I have been too so far. It’s almost as if the staff doesn’t want these dogs to get adopted. The staff and volunteers were rude and closed off. The best thing anyone could do for this place is close it down and take the dogs to a shelter where the staff is interested in helping these dogs get adopted. I was very unimpressed by this establishment.
Found the perfect addition to our family. The "vetting" process was thorough yet completed the same day. The volunteers clearly care for the pups. We brought our two other dogs w us for the meet and greet, and it all went well. The adoption process and overall experience with HFGD was very positive.
We adopted our second rescue back in 2013. I joked that it might have been easier to adopt a child, but I fully understand why they are so thorough. My vet called to tell me that they had, in fact, called her for a reference. I am happy they take such care to make sure that their dogs are placed in loving, capable homes. We. too, had to adjust to the speed at which the dogs on the site are adopted. But, in the end, we got the perfect puppy! Bridie (formerly Jules) was fully house trained and very well socialized to people and other dogs at four months of age. She immediately became a happy member of our family. I am filling out my application tonight to adopt our next family member!
I adopted a dog... everything was great. We were all excited, but the dog did have some issues. So we called home for good dogs and asked for guidance with our dog. I went in to speak with the manager, and I was in tears because I loved our dog but things were just not right. I then had my sister drop the dog off at the place. Right after that my 2 kids were in tears. They loved this dog. I then decided to call home for good dogs 5 minutes after she returned our dog to see If we could get our dog back. The women on the phone was extremely rude and disrespectful, she did not care at all that myself and my 2 kids were crying. I begged and said “Please give us our dog back.” She just hung up. I do not recommend this shelter. It was a terrible experience for me and my family. I’m giving 1 Star because I am not able to put no star. GO TO St. Hubert’s. Do not go here. The women on the phone is a rude and obnoxious person. And has no heart!!!
This dog shelter has horrible dogs that are no where near well mannered, and the staff is incredibly rude to every person I know that has gone there. The process was almost impossible and if we had cats (which we do) we were not able to adopt the dog. The one dog that I adopted from here was about 2 months old at the time and was incredibly vicious. I know another family who almost adopted an animal here and they paid and everything and they said that their fence was 4 1/2 feet or something like that, and they weren’t allowed to get the dog. I now have the sweetest dog in the world and I got her from a proper breeder that doesn’t go insane when I don’t adopt a dog. I advise that you NEVER go here.
